The North Western Repeater Group was formed on the 23rd January 1975 to provide reliable mobile communication between Amateur Radio operators. It currently operates the 2m FM and multimode digital repeater GB3RF. Two other repeaters used to be part of the North Western Repeater Group, GB3FC and GB3PF. Both are now looked after by individuals and information about them can be found at the following two links: GB3FC and GB3PF
GB3RF is a multimode repeater licensed for analogue FM, Dstar, Fusion(C4FM) & DMR. GB3RF can also be accessed using an Allstar node and on EchoLink. As well as analogue FM and digital modes it is also possible to crossmode between analogue and digital modes allowing people using the repeater locally on FM to talk with people using digital radios. More information can be found under the GB3RF and Modes menu headings.
During the group's 40 plus years there have been many changes to the members, committee and several repeater keepers. Without members, a group isn't a group and we are very grateful to all our members past and present for all their support and donations that have kept GB3RF on the air for over 40 years.
Please do look through the pages under Modes in the menu and familiarise yourself with the many modes and methods of operating through GB3RF either locally or globally.
We always welcome new members and everyone is welcome to visit us at one of our monthly meetings.
The group meets at The Globe Bowling Club, Willows Lane, Accrington, Lancashire on the Third Thursday of each month starting at 8:00 pm.
Membership of the group currently costs £16.00 per year if paid using the PayPal button below, renewable after 12 calendar months.
